31 Jul 2009 - Radio daze update...
The outcome of the defamation action brought by Keysar Trad against radio 2GB will be of interest to those who used to listen to Jason Morrison on my program... and indeed anyone who has heard Keysar Trad over the years, particularly in his capacity as spokesman for Sheikh al-Hilaly.

KEYSAR Trad, the longtime spokesman for Muslim cleric Sheik Taj
bin al-Hilaly, has been described as "racist" and "offensive" by a judge
who today rejected his defamation claim against radio station 2GB.

Mr Trad sued the top-rating Sydney station in the NSW Supreme
Court
after presenter Jason Morrison described him "gutless" and
" just trouble"
for his conduct at a rally after the Cronulla riots in December 2005.

I agree with you, Paul. And I find that I'm not as well informed any more about what is going on in Canberra since Mike is no longer there. When we first came to Canberra – lots of years ago now – I was disappointed because I couldn't get radio 2GB here. I used to listen to it in Sydney. Good talkback radio is both entertaining and informative. It must be incredibly hard work to be a talkback presenter. Lots of pitfalls, I imagine. One of the things I liked about Mike J. was the way he could take the listeners into his confidence when things went wrong, so you didn't feel left out. Quite an art in that.

Hi Mike, hope you are well. I can very much agree with everyone's comments. I, try, to listen to breakfast/ morning radio, at times, but my/the heart is not in it at all,and I must say, with regret, but at measured, force, that your former employer do not, really, know and/or understand the larger picture,by way of the action of dismissal of you,and who and what your replacement was/is. Though it is, mostly, a silent happening, except when people exchange, such as in forums like your fine web site, and probably person to person(s), my very strong, perception, of the matter is, the entire media landscape of Canberra ACT region suffers from this vacuam, and is not better, but worse and lesser, and this apply's not only to AM talk/ talk back radio.
A conservative voice such as yours, is in reality, actually the most liberal one, in the best and original sense of the word, if one takes time to look into the semantics back a time ago. I will hang out as long as it is, before, jumping into digital/ satellite/ internet radio,in any case, our (the) voice of Mike Jeffreys will always be(his) best, no matter where or when he may be /is located in the future Again, I state my case,Canberra region airwaves without MJ, way lesser, with MJ, far better. And I am/will always be grateful for the radio time I, was blessed with the voice/ persona of Mike Jeffreys, 2003-2009.

I'm not able to tune in to 2GB on the internet – so I've been listening to 2CC after 9am. I didn't know about the law suit but am glad Jason was exonerated. Like everyone else, I miss hearing you on 2CC and will be interested to know of your future plans, if and when you are ready to share them with us.

This is fantastic news, many thanks for sharing. Jason's press conference also makes for interesting listening (up on 2GB's livenews.com.au).

I, like many others, now listen to a lot of 2GB, although I have also found myself listening to a lot of American talk radio. Other than Jim Ball and Mike Welsh, I now listen to very very little of your former station.

I hope all is well with you Mike. It is great to see updates from you again.

Having been in sydney all day I heard the court result first hand, on Jason's program. A fair result for all, since you have not been on the air, I listen to 2GB all day a bit scratchy after lunch but certainly better than the rubbish that we have here now in the ACT.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Since losing you I now listen to 2GB at home on our Internet radio and just love Jason Morrison. Alan is OK and certainly better than that weak stuff we get now that you have left. Hope all is well with you and that we might hear you on air again. If Sydney I can still tune in!

Hi Mike

Glad to see you are back. I have missed your comments on this web site. 666 is somewhat boring but is better than the wanker taking your place. Regards to Jason M as well. He is missed. Keep me informed of you movements. I dont listen to your old station anymore except from 0900 to 1200. In other words 3 hours a day instead of 24.

Paul, Tuggers
